  We join up with McDonald's 

 Merlin’s Walk shopping centre’s Mini Merlins Club for children up to 11 is nearing a membership of 300, less than a year since it was formed.

The club was started only last summer following the Carmarthen's shopping centre’s re-branding from Greyfriars in 2010.

Membership, which is free, is now close to 300 and to help with the celebrations, the Carmarthen branch of McDonald’s restaurant has donated a party prize of  four free meals for the 300th youngster who signs up.

The winner will be able to take along two of their pals, plus an adult, for a free treat.

Merlin’s Walk’s Claire Kirkham, who helped found the Mini Merlins Club and deals with all the administration, thanked McDonald’s for its donation.

“The children will love it and I’m sure it will be help us reach that 300th target in the next few weeks, or even days, when news gets out.

“All the children seem to love the idea of the club and all they have to do is visit our Kid’s Zone page, complete the membership form and send it to me,” she said.

As part of the Mini Merlins Club membership youngsters receive a monthly newsletter including a competition with prize. There’s a monthly birthday winner, special discounts from some of the shops in Merlin’s Walk, advance notice of Merlin’s Walk events and various other offers throughout the year.
